On December 8, 2016, as part of the “Community Service Projects” course, third-year students from our department, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. A. Fuat ARICI and Research Assistant D. Barış KIR, visited the Halkalı Şehit Er Müslüm Zengin Elementary School. During story time, our students and faculty members spread out among the classrooms and read books together with the elementary school students. After the reading hour ended, KIR gave a talk to the fourth-grade elementary students in the conference hall about reading. Emphasizing the importance of reading and describing it as a passion that should never be abandoned, he urged the students never to give up on their goals and to work with all their might, and never give up. One of our students, Büşra Deniz, also participated in the discussion, sharing personal examples and stating that she attributes her current position to the books she has read. Following the talk, books were presented to the students. Then, a meal was served. We hope the next book-student gathering will be just as wonderful and enjoyable.
